Donovan McNabb to the ‘Skins, eh? Interesting.
I find it a bit peculiar that Philadelphia was loyal enough to McNabb to honor a trade request within the division. Granted, Washington may have offered the most compensation for the 11-year veteran, but you don’t really want the former face of your franchise whipping you twice a year and making you look foolish in the process, do you?
We analyzed the trade from a fantasy perspective already, so I’m going to address a different angle: Michael Vick versus Kevin Kolb.
I’m not sure which quarterback is better to lead the Eagles. I have a hunch, but for the Eagles to flat-out name Kolb the starter with just 130 career attempts under his belt seems short-sighted. Philly is in the position to win now, and I’m not sure Kolb is the right guy for that. To be fair, I’m not sure Vick is, either. What I am certain of, though, is that I’d never name a starter between the two without the duo battling in training camp.
McNabb had 11 seasons to make it happen and he failed. I don’t have a problem with the team moving in another direction, but it’s in their best interest to examine all possible avenues for success.
I know why Philly named Kolb the starter – a public display of confidence, the appearance of a deliberate, forward direction for the team – BUT you have to wonder how the rest of the team feels about Vick not getting a chance to start.
What exactly has he done so far?
What would it hurt to let them battle? Is Andy Reid this arrogant? I knew he was stubborn, and this borders on being an ego-driven, foolish personnel move.
Now I’m officially rooting against Kevin Kolb, through no fault of his own.
Which QB should start in Philly this year?
- Kevin Kolb
- Michael Vick
- Make them battle for it
