HAHAHA comparing Geno Smith to JaMarcus Russell because he's BLACK. Geno is nothing like JaMarcus. He's about 220 lbs. and JaMarcus got to 260+. Also, Geno doesn't like to run the ball at all. He's your prototyipcal pocket passer, meaning he'd prefer to stand straight up and live in the pocket all day long Geno Smith will be a much better prospect than JaMarcus. Come on!
In regards to Matt Barkley's stats...he's had a very sub-par year ("par" means "even" in golf, and "sub" means "below", so "sub-par" means "below average") with two All-American receivers in Marqise Lee and Robert Woods. This isn't all his fault though. You have to watch the games and the playcalling. People look at his statistics and just assume he's regressing (getting worse or "returning to an old state of development").
But if you watch closely, you'll see multiple formations, shifts, motions and misdirections--it's unnecessary and ridiculous! You never see this, even in the NFL--only under Lane Kiffin at USC. Lane Kiffin is doing a very poor job with the amount of talent on his offense. No other team in the country comes close in the amount of talent on the offensive side of the ball. Of the 11 starters on offense, ALL of them will play in the NFL.
Never should a FOURTH YEAR STARTING quarterback be under center THINKING for 4-5 seconds. If you watch tape of Barkley this season, you'll see that often times he'll have his hands under the center but not snap the ball. What's going on? He's processing all the ridiculous information in his head. How could this be possible with a fourth year starter? It's Lane Kiffin's fault. I have no doubt that Matt Barkley will be an elite professional quarterback.
His junior year he accounted for 39 touchdowns to only 7 interceptions in just 12 games. This year he should play in 14 games because of an additional Pac-12 championship and a bowl game (since their post-season isn't banned anymore). If the defense plays angry and the offense is simplified, look for Matt Barkley and USC to get back on track after this difficult loss to Oregon.
In 3 weeks USC will beat Notre Dame and derail (means a train going off its rail--so when something goes off its track, then it doesn't go where they want to go) their championship season! Mark my word (means "remember what I'm saying")!
