The Seattle Seahawks are close to locking up No. 2 receiver Doug Baldwin.
The two sides have been working on a new extension and a resolution could come in the next day or so, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported, citing two sources involved in the process.
The Seahawks targeted this week to have a deal done. A deal is "very close," per Rapoport.
Baldwin showed up for voluntary OTAs without signing his restricted free agent tender, making good on his promise not to hold out.
"Doug has been a tremendous player," coach Pete Carroll said following Tuesday's OTAs, per ESPN.com. "When you go back and look at the last few years, and you look at the significant plays that have happened, he's been a part in a lot of big stuff."
According to Rapoport, Baldwin's deal is expected to be shorter than most of the other receivers signed, likely locking him in for three years, rather than four or five. The purpose behind the shorter deal would be so Baldwin, who turns 26 years old in Sept., can be a free agent again before the age of 30.
In three seasons in Seattle, Baldwin has 130 catches for 1,932 yards, and 12 touchdowns.
另外据Ian Rapoport在推特上透露,Baldwin的这份合同可能为期三年。据说是3年13M,8.5M的Guarantee,这数额赶上拍子的Edelman了。
